Doctor Who Cosplay Breakdown

 Oswin Oswald Breakdown

Hello, I'm Rebecca and I'm a Amy Pond Cosplayer.  I will be doing a breakdown to costumes that anyone can achieve when searching for alternatives.

Today, I am going to help you with a breakdown for Oswin Oswald from Doctor Who - The Asylum of The Daleks.  This cosplay looks so fun to do but, screen accurate items are so difficult and rare to find.

To help you remember this cosplay click on the link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epc-Z974eiQ) to check out the character's outfit.

Hair

For Oswin's hair you can either dye your hair or a buy a wig whichever you prefer is entirely up to you. However, you can use your hair if the colour and length look about right.  For example, I feel like I'd prefer to use my hair even it may be longer than hers.

If you are searching for a wig but, you don't want to spend a lot on it then try places like Amazon, Wigisfashion and Ebay is good too.  Two examples of a wig for Oswin Oswald are;

The second wig is more expensive than the first.  If you aren't too sure about these wigs then check the websites I have said above until you find the wig you are looking for.

If you want to spend a lot of money on a good quality wig - Arda Wigs is a good place, warning it is quite pricey (especially when they don't always tell you what the postage is exactly after they have sent you it).  It's an American site I believe and you need to be careful but, aware of the price and how much they will end up charging you.  The Buttercup wig looks like a great idea but, is 35 dollars (£26 almost £27) and remember you need to pay postage too if you're shipping to the UK.  The colour to go for would be a Spanish Brown which looks like the closest colour to Oswin Oswald's hair.

Hairpiece

The picture that was shown in another picture above was the one of the pictures I could find with a flower hairpiece as the other pictures don't show Oswin Oswald wearing it.  Unless you really like to add this to your look you can but, not everyone wants to.  Try and having a look for a small red rose hair clip either on Ebay, Claire's or Amazon.

Make up

I'm not the best with make up so, I suggest checking out some of these tutorials below for Oswin Oswald.

Check out FallenMakeup's tutorial  or Bridget J's tutorial this may help you are but, have a look on YouTube for a variety of make up tutorial.  I'm sure you will look fantastic!

Socks

Her screen accurate socks can actually be found here  in the colour Red / White.  However, if you are on a tight budget or so, maybe get a pair of sports socks that look similar to her SA ones on Ebay or perhaps a sports shop might be a good idea as an alt too.

Shoes

Shooooooooooes! Now I will show you a variety of shoes that I found on Ebay that are either be laced or have velcro.

The first pair are laced up but, you could get some white laces and change them to make it look like the originals if you'd want to get it just right.  These velcro shoes are also another option for Oswin too. If you are unsure or if Ebay runs out of the first type of shoe you can get a similar version on Ebay.

Converses, the red high tops also would be another choice that I'd probably go for and I have seen other Cosplayers wear them too for Oswin.  If the shoe fits, feels comfortable and you are happy with them, then go for it!

Dress

Oswin Oswald outfit
The dress which Oswin wears has always been a challenge to find as I believe the dress was custom made for Jenna for that episode. I have seen many Cosplayers make the dress.  If you personally don't feel comfortable with sewing or making the dress, I would suggest that any 3/4 sleeve red bodycon dress will work well.

I have mostly been searching on Ebay for a 3/4 sleeve red bodycon dress for this look but, I'm sure checking out your local charity shops or even high street shops you will be able to find an alternative to suit her look.

I found this dress or maybe something like this on Ebay which seems to be a good alternative, the sleeves don't look so long on the first dress but, I'll leave it down to you whether it's fitting or not.
